This is a very interesting piece. It's very detailed, and has a very believable setting. I quite like it.

The style of furniture really shines here. I think it fits very nicely with the art's darker tones. It has a more antique feel, and I think that helps this artwork's story allot. The curves on the coach are great, giving it a realistic, but almost a little bit of a whimsical feel. The cabinet to the left has a very grand look to it, giving the sense of wealth. I love the pillow on the floor; it's amazing how such simple things can make such a big impact on an art piece. The pillow laying on the floor in such an extravagant scene make the setting feel lived in; it isn't quite picture perfect.

The woman on the couch is drawn very well. She brings color to the scene, while not throwing the art's balance off. I find it interesting how her head is positioned. She appears to be looking out into the sunlight, as if longingly. It definitely adds a bit of mystery, speculation, and story to the piece. The cigarette in her hand and the position the woman is in is a bit like the pillow on the floor for me, it also adds to the feeling of the space being lived in. Such a fancy place, but it's owner (that is, assuming the woman is the owner) conducts herself in a more casual manner.

The sunlight peering through the window really pulls the artwork together. It adds the light to such a dark scene. It also appears symbolic, as if to represent something as a goal, a dream, a hope. Something to be desired (as we can see by the way the woman looks at it). The artist also did a fantastic job on the lighting of the scene, doing it in a realistic way. The scene isn't too dark, nor too light; keeping a perfect balance.

My complaint- the watermark. I hate them. I understand why they're put in place, but they just seem to ruin the atmosphere of the art.

I really love this piece. It has such detail and such story to it, that it makes you stop and stare at it for a little while. By far, this has been one of my favorite artworks that I've critiqued. Well done!
